Dear brothers and sisters, beloved and suffering compatriots, faithful and ever-martyred nation!
I express my deepest condolences for the recent painful incidents to the entire nation, and specifically to the dear families of today’s martyrs and those of previous days. I thank them for their patience and fortitude—especially Mr. Izadyar, the respected Deputy Speaker of the Senate, whose responsible handling of the event was worthy of his position as one of the country's leaders. Likewise, I express my gratitude to Dr. Abdullah and all the jihadi and political leaders of the country who have demonstrated the solidarity of our nation during these days.
We have not yet turned the page on one of our turbulent days before another page of pain and mourning finds us. Savage and bloodthirsty terrorists commit a new disastrous tragedy every day to break the soul and spirit of our nation. They want chaos, fractures, division, mistrust, and discord to penetrate our ranks. They want to open gaps between the people and the state, between one ethnic group and another, between elders and the youth, between men and women, between political activists and the social body—to let these various divides swallow our society. "Great Chaos" is the code for terrorist groups' activities. Depriving societies of the order of governance is their strategic goal, so they may bring the destruction they envision to its peak.
Dear brothers and sisters!
The enemies' goals and the timing of their actions are deliberate. They are not only seeking to kill our defenseless and innocent people; their greater goal is to incite general chaos and turmoil. What is happening in Libya, Somalia, Mali, Yemen, Syria, and other regions is the result of this same destructive strategy.
In these specific circumstances, where Afghanistan has managed to secure global unity and solidarity at various levels, and as the Kabul Process Conference is underway toward that goal, the enemy has focused its efforts on intensifying psychological warfare through its criminal acts. They want to drive our people's emotions toward division so that Afghanistan loses its great opportunities on the global stage.
Honorable Compatriots!
What can defeat all the diabolical efforts of these criminals is for us to stand together in these hard and difficult days. We have the right to be sorrowful following heavy casualties and losses; we have the right to have wounded feelings for the loss of our children, brothers, sisters, and relatives. This pain is a common pain for us all. None of the victims or those affected by these incidents are strangers; they are part of our existence and members of our families. They are our colleagues, neighbors, and fellow citizens, and losing any of them is bitter and agonizing for us.
But dear brothers and sisters!
We must be vigilant so that a bloodthirsty enemy—who has no mercy even for young children and attacks worshippers during a funeral prayer—does not find the opportunity to exploit the pure emotions of our people. We must not allow ourselves to fall into the trap they have laid for our country.
I accept that there are shortcomings in the work of officials. I accept that fundamental reforms must be carried out in both our security apparatus and our other departments, and these reforms will be implemented shortly. I accept that there must be decisive action against those who have been negligent in their duties, at whatever level they may be. I accept that our people should monitor, evaluate, and criticize the government's performance at every level, because all of this is for the benefit of the country and the common good of our nation. The leadership of the National Unity Government is committed to and believes in these principles.
However, a knot that can be untied by hand does not need to be untied with teeth. There is no need for our pure-hearted youth to witness more suffering. There is no need for our dear youth to face off against their security brothers, or for the unified front of our nation against terrorists to be breached.
Dear Compatriots!
I, Dr. Abdullah, Mr. Danesh, and the rest of the leadership of the National Unity Government, pledge that with the courage of our brave defense and security forces and the support of you, the patient and aware nation, we will bring those terrorists who shed the pure blood of this country's children to justice. Together, we can defeat this man-eating demon; together, we can heal our wounds; together, we can stand tall from beneath the rubble of sorrow and replace the hard days of disaster and grief with happy days of security and stability.
Furthermore, the government leadership has directed a committee to begin investigating Friday's incidents, which led to the deaths of several of our dear youth. The Attorney General’s Office and the families of the victims will participate jointly in this committee to identify those who gave the order to fire or who fired the shots, so that the court may decide their fate according to the law.
May God keep the souls of the martyrs of recent days happy, grant patience to their bereaved families, and keep our unity and solidarity enduring and firm against the enemies of the country.
