Honorable compatriots, dear brothers and sisters!
I congratulate each and every one of you on the arrival of the new Solar Hijri year. I pray that this year marks the beginning of hopeful transformations in the security, developmental, and cultural spheres of our beloved homeland.
Nowruz is an opportunity to leave behind exhaustion and despondency. In harmony with nature—which is a manifestation of Divine signs in the chamber of existence—we too should open our arms to stirring transformations and, in this way, open a new chapter in our personal and social lives. By utilizing the spring of nature and the spreading of greenery and freshness across its pages, we can bring vitality to our own lives, refresh our relationships with family, relatives, and friends, and make our valuable bonds deeper and more steadfast.
Honorable Compatriots!
Each of us can take part in building our dear homeland. Planting a sapling, bringing water to homes, the clean service of canals, building a school, organizing construction, participating in the greenery of our surroundings, or maintaining the cleanliness of our villages and streets—these are all acts of goodness that benefit God’s creation and develop the nation. They bring us both spiritual reward and virtue.
Now that Almighty Allah has granted us the opportunity to live another year, we must express our gratitude for this opportunity and create goodness and improvement in various aspects of life. Our people naturally desire to live in peace, to have a better economy, and to see their children literate and heading to schools. While our defenders are in the security forces, it is the duty of all of us to struggle against evil and insecurity through hard work and to spread the light of hope, prosperity, and happiness.
We can decide to make the New Year a different year—a year in which the ominous schemes of the enemies of this country are thwarted, and our people's aspirations for progress, prosperity, and security become more attainable. We can block the efforts of those who seek to spread hatred, despair, and discouragement and who bring news of death and destruction. Instead, we can gift our society momentum, vitality, and optimism for the future.
This responsibility rests upon all of us: the nation and the state, urbanites, villagers, and Kuchis, politicians and cultural figures, workers and employers, and everyone who has a share in social life. We must promote and generalize hope, resolve, will, courage, and self-belief—belief in ourselves, in our defense and security forces, in the efforts of officials, and in the results of our own beneficial activities for every step taken for the future of the people of this land.
We must deliver this message with one voice from the mosque and the school, from radio and television, from newspapers and journals, and from political and cultural platforms: that this nation will not be defeated by crime and brutality. Those who wish to test the will and resolve of our people will reap nothing but disgrace. With Divine success, we will forge our path through all obstacles toward a brighter future.
In the past year, while enemies tried to keep our country insecure, the grace of God and the resilience of our nation prevailed. Despite the challenges, our brave soldiers showed epic heroism in defending the country and its citizens. In the field of knowledge and science, our youth and universities also moved forward. Our young athletes brought home honors, and our cricket team set new records in the history of the sport this year. With this great determination and unparalleled spirit, the people of Afghanistan will keep the country moving forward despite the problems.
I wish a blessed New Year to all our compatriots who contribute in various fields of life, and I wish them even greater success. May the Solar Hijri year be auspicious and blessed for everyone.
